2014 is a special year.
Primarily it marks the start of my 21st year in the field of Emceeing. Mind boggling as it may sound but it was about 20 years ago in December 1993, that I was first paid a very meagre fee of MYR 80 (SGD 30 / USD 25) to pick up a mic and host an event.
It does feel like I’ve come a long way, but it doesn’t feel like it’s been a 20 year journey. I guess that’s what happens when you’re doing something that you love.
2014 is also a special year for the fact that I’m able to write this blog post on my newly launched website.
It’s only been my 2nd website ever, with my first one being a very basic Microsoft Frontpage site, having learnt how to develop it by using the ‘Help’ function. Basic, but I’d like to think very content-filled, lol.
I’ve been wanting to blog for a long time now, but as some of you may know, I host an average of anything between 2-4 events in a week, and well, contrary to what some may think, it’s actually a very taxing schedule once you throw in the meetings, daily administrative matters, marketing, traveling and what not.
Having said that though, after 20 years in the industry, I do have a lot to share and therein lies the motivation behind this blog.
20 years ago, I left school and started a new journey. 20 years on, it’s the birth of a new phase.
There’s some very exciting news that I’ll be sharing in good time, but for now, I hope you will enjoy my new website!
It’s a fully responsive site, so feel free to view the site from any of your devices!
Thanks for popping in, and do drop me a note if you’ve got any comments regarding my new website ya!
Here’s raising a glass to you and wishing you the very best that 2014 has to offer!
